Professional Licensure Disclosures

Elmira College agrees to provide notifications to students related to professional licensure.  Any institution approved to participate in SARA that offers courses or programs designed to lead to professional licensure or certification or advertised as leading to licensure must satisfy all federal requirements for disclosures regarding such professional licensure programs under 34 CFR §668.14 and §668.43.

Elmira College will disclose to the student whether the program of interest meets licensure/certification requirements in the State where the student is located or in the State that the student attests they intend to seek employment. Disclosures are available upon request from the Office of Teacher Education (teachered@hjhmw.com). In the event that Elmira College’s program does not meet licensure/certification requirements in that state, the student will not be enrolled into the program. For additional information, students may visit the NC-SARA Professional Licensure Directory at nc-sara.org/professional-licensure-directory.   

Elmira College has received New York State Education Department (NYSED) approval to add the distance education modality to its Master of Science in Education (MSEd) programs. The Adolescence Education (7-12), Literacy (Birth – 12), and Inclusive Special Education (All grades) programs meet NYSED licensure requirements and provide institutional recommendation.  For additional information on Elmira College’s MSEd offerings, click here.
